This year's Festival of Archaeology took place between 15 and 30 July 2017. The annual celebration of all things archaeological offers more than 1,000 events nationwide, giving everyone of all age ranges the chance to come and discover for themselves different archaeology discoveries. As Phil Harding, renowned TV archaeologist, says “The Festival gives archaeologists the chance to open their doors and invite people in”.
Coordinated by the Council for British Archaeology (CBA), the UK’s archaeology charity, the Festival is made up of events hosted and run by museums, heritage sites, local societies, community groups, national heritage bodies, national parks and volunteers right across the UK.
Within the two-week festival, people can come and explore, experience and enjoy the past, and bring it once more to life.
